The Academy is part of the Relational Practice Directorate and has a dedicated team of practitioners and other professionals working together to support workforce development.

The head of the Academy is the Principal Social Worker whose role is to promote a culture of learning, championing new research, ideas and practice innovation as well as fostering a safe, supportive working environment for practitioners.

Practice Development officers based n the Academy offer support to all workers on their learning journey and our Learning and Development Partners commission and co-ordinate our comprehensive learning offer.

We work in partnership with a number of organisations so that we can provide access to a wide range of learning opportunities, including:

Camden Safeguarding Children Partnership provides a programme of multi-agency safeguarding training

North London Teaching Partnership including Middlesex University is our partner in delivering learning for social workers

Kingston University is our partner in delivering our social work apprenticeships

Research in Practice and Making Research Count provide access to a wide range of research and evidence-based practice resources.

Camden provides a wide range of services for children and young people, so the children’s workforce is diverse, covering a number of services and professions, each with their own entry requirements and professional standards. This includes:

  • Social workers
