Meet the Academy

The purpose of the Academy is to support the development of the children's workforce and to ensure all staff are able to meet professional standards of practice and pursue learning opportunities for their career development. For social workers, that means helping them to meet the Continued Professional Development and registration requirements.

Practice Development Officers based in the Academy provide programmes of support and assessment for newly qualified social workers via the ASYE programme and those entering the social work profession via initiatives such as Frontline, Step up to Social Work and apprenticeships.

To support workforce learning, the Academy identifies, commissions and quality assures all learning and development opportunities for staff in partnership with the Learning and Development Service.
